If your teeth become decayed or broken, you may require a filling or a dental restoration to repair them. We have lots of options for you at Newby Dental Practice. Our Clinicians ensure that these fillings are placed in a relaxing, comfortable environment. We want you to feel at ease with the treatment you’re receiving.
Dental fillings, or composite bonding, can also be used to repair or alter the shape of your front teeth. This can often be done without any anesthetic, and can mean that you get your smile back
Composite bonding can be used in combination with straightening the teeth with aligners. But equally, can be used on its own to improve the position of your teeth, and how they meet together. A really popular cosmetic treatment is to Align the teeth, Bleach the colour to the shade you want, and Bond with white filling materials . This achieves the perfect shape and overall finished look!
Dental crowns (or caps) completely cover a heavily filled or broken tooth. They are made from a variety of materials. These include all-ceramics, such as the cosmetic E-Max or Zirconia crowns, or the more conventional metal, gold or porcelain types.
With ceramic crowns, both zirconium and E-MAX, the aesthetic result are second to none. They tend to be an improved fit too. Both are durable, and hardwearing. Zirconium and E-MAX crowns are translucent in color, which ensures the closest color match to your natural teeth. Their color also eliminates the ugly metal band around the gum line that is characteristic of porcelain metal mix crowns.
Why might I need a crown?
- improve your smile
- protect a tooth that has fractured
- prevent a tooth from breaking after a root canal filling
- protect a large filling
A ceramic veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured ceramic material cemented onto the tooth surface. It improves the appearance of a stained or a chipped tooth or to protect a damaged or worn tooth surface.
When appropriate, you can also use veneers to improve the alignment of teeth. They also improve appearance of crooked, small or spaced teeth where composite bonding, or Invisalign is not an option.
Bridges are a fixed option to replace a missing tooth or teeth. They are fixed to your teeth, often either side of the gap, and look just like natural teeth.
Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth, and improve function. They also stop unwanted movement, but more importantly, they can be used to restore your smile and confidence!
In some cases, bridges can be used to replace lost, loose or worn dentures.
We have lots of options for bridges, depending on your teeth. This is something we can have a chat to you about at your examination.
A denture is a removable option to replace missing teeth. They use acrylic teeth to improve the appearance by filling the gaps. A partial denture may also help prevent your remaining teeth moving, if you have a space where you have had a tooth taken out. A denture can also help reduce the appearance of a sunken lower face and jaw. This is because they replace the underlying bone and gum support that is often lost alongside natural teeth.
A dental implant is a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. You can have them placed directly into your mouth, where they provide an artificial replacement for the root of your missing tooth or teeth. They can support crowns, bridges or dentures.
