POST OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOWING FACIAL REJUVENATION TREATMENTS

POST OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FACIAL AESTHECTICS/REJUVENATION
TREATMENTS INVOLVING BOTULINUM TOXINS, DERMAL FILLERS AND PROFHILO

TOXINS:

● You are fit to return to work following treatment. However, the injection
sites can look a little red and swollen. You may therefore not wish to
return to work on the day of treatment.
● Try to exercise your muscles a little for the first few hours after
treatment (eg practice frowning, raising eyebrows and squinting). This will
help the product work into your muscles; however do not make extreme
expressions!
● Do not rub or massage treated areas for 48 hours after treatment. After
washing treated areas just pat dry gently.
● Do not exercise, bend excessively or lie down for at least 4 hours after
treatment.
● Avoid wearing make-up for 6 hours after treatment. For a further 2 weeks
avoid beauty treatments such as facials. Light make-up can be worn to
cover any redness that maybe present after the first 6 hours of recovery.
● Try to avoid exposure to strong sun lights, very cold temperatures and
saunas for 2 weeks after treatment.
● Toxin products normally take an average 2-3 days to start working,
although the full effects may take a little longer. The speed of action
depends on the strength of the muscles injected and your personal
response.

DERMAL FILLERS:

● Dermal fillers tend to work instantly, but again the results can change
over the first 1-2 days as swelling quickly reduces.
● Swelling can present with fillers over the first 24-48 hours. A clean cold
compress applied to the area can help, along with taking non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen. Bruising and swelling is
short lived.
● Lumps and bumps caused by the injections should disappear within a few
hours of treatment, but do not be surprised if these last a couple of days.
● Following treatment the area can feel a little tender and perhaps itchy,
this resolves over the following few hours.

● Treatment on the lips can sometimes cause more swelling than in other
areas due to the blood vessels present. This can sometimes be for up to 7
days; again application of a cold compress to the area can really help,
along with routine pain killers.
● Remember that treatment is not permanent. To maintain the results we
recommend you repeat the procedure 2-3 times per year

PROFHILO:

● Immediately after treatment there may be slight redness, swelling,
bruising, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. These
reactions are temporary and generally disappear in a few days. If it
continues or if any other reactions occur, please contact your practitioner
● Avoid touching the treatment area for 6 hours after the treatment. After
that the area can be washed with a gentle cleanser and sterile make up
can be applied
● Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the
treated area to intense heat e.g. solarium and sunbathing, or extreme cold.
Avoid strenuous exercise and swimming to avoid risk of infection
● Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment
● Apply APF50 sunscreen
● Do not massage or manipulate the treated area
● Stay hydrated
