What exactly is Invisalign?

Invisalign is the world leader in adult orthodontics. It utilises a series of clear, custom-made, removable aligners to predictably straighten your teeth. The reason why Invisalign is so popular is because the aligners are incredibly discreet and comfortable. They are made from a patented clear acrylic which means most people will not even notice that you are wearing them. Another advantage with Invisalign aligners is that you can remove them easily to eat and brush your teeth, resulting in little disruption to your daily life.

we are able to treat a wide range of patients using Invisalign, including Crowding/ crooked teeth, spacing, overbite – teeth that overlap, overjet – front teeth that stick out, crossbite – teeth bite on the wrong side of each other or an offset midline – misalignment of upper and lower teeth.

As long as you have healthy teeth and gums you are likely to be suitable.

At Newby Dental Practice, we can also build into your bespoke plan, composite bonding, to improve the shape and size of your teeth, and tooth whitening, to improve the shade too. So if you want quick, straight, teeth, look no further.

What Is The Process For Invisalign?

Step 1 – Consultation

At your initial assessment you will have a full dental examination, x-rays, photographs and impressions taken.

Step 2 – Clincheck

This will be uploaded to the Invisalign CLINCHECK software. Invisalign CLINCHECK is a specially designed computer programme which allows you and your practitioner to precisely design your future smile using 3D digital planning.

The CLINCHECK software will then show you a 3D image of your teeth position before and after treatment. Its truly amazing to see this, you literally see your teeth in a digital form with them moving into position.

Step 3 – Initial fitting of the first aligner

You will be fitted with your first aligner and shown how easy it is to wear and remove. You will be given clear instructions on what to do and what not to do for successful treatment.

Step 4 – Replacement Aligners

You will attend the clinic on average every 2 months for a review and to be provided with the next 4-5 aligners. You replace your aligners every 1-2 weeks and your teeth safely and predictably move in to alignment. Treatment with Invisalign can take anywhere between 4-24 months depending on the level of tooth movements required to ensure perfect results.

Step 5 – Completion of treatment

You will now have your NEW STRAIGHT SMILE as the treatment is completed. At Newby Dental Practice we can also provide teeth whitening to enhance the appearance of your new smile if you would also like to improve the colour of your teeth.

How best to keep your finished Invisalign smile

It took time, skill and investment to create your beautiful straight smile. Removable Vivera retainers are the best product to keep your newly aligned smile looking great. They are worn at night to prevent any future movement of your teeth. Vivera retainers are made from the same patented technology as Invisalign aligners, this means that your smile is protected with the most reliable and comfortable material available. Never settle for less, vivera retainers are in our opinion the one of the best retainers out there, so much so that a lot of the staff here at Newby Dental have this type of retainer.

Invisalign F.A.Q

Is Invisalign Painful?

You can expect some aching and tenderness initially as the teeth begin moving. This usually lasts for the first couple days after a new aligner is worn. Painkillers can be taken if required, though this is not usually necessary. Further along the process, as your teeth have started to move, there is usually very little associated discomfort.
