We have a new dentist joining our practice in Scarborough and currently we don’t have anywhere for him to treat patients. Luckily when we were building the practice back at the start of 2021 we added the services needed for a further dental surgery to be built if required. It now so happens that with Peter joining us sooner than expected that that we now need to go to the design phase and start planning the layout.
Here is how we design the surgeries, enjoy the video!
Peter is excited to join us, especially as he is going to be using a brand new dental surgery. He was previously working as a dentist all the way down in Plymouth however he had previously been working in Scarborough as Dentist several years ago. He’s looking forward to the move back and cant wait to join our fantastic dental team that we have at Newby Dental Practice.
Since opening the practice, we have had a few patients ask for a safe area to lock up their push bikes whilst they are here for dental appointments. In fact, we never realised how many people cycle to the dentist! Scarborough is great place for cycling and we would like to encourage this to all where possible; especially when we have the Cinder Track right on our doorstep.
As a dynamic business, we have heard your requests and installed a secure bike rack to the left of our front door. This now provides a safe solution where you can safely lock your bike away whilst you visit the practice. To add further peace of mind, we also have CCTV throughout the carpark area which also covers the bike rack. So you can now relax in surgery, knowing that your bike is safe.
It’s been a challenge, opening a new dental practice in Scarborough, during a pandemic, but we got there. We couldn’t be more excited about everyone finally getting to see what we’ve been working on.
Our surgeries have been designed to be light, open and airy, to ensure we can comply with all the COVID requirements, keeping our staff and patients safe.
We have kept things minimal, so from a cross infection point of view, things can be easily kept clean.
Each surgery has been specifically designed for accessibility and usability for both patients and staff.
They are custom built dental surgeries to enable us to provide high quality dental care in Scarborough
Digital x ray machines and intra oral cameras are in each surgery, for assessments during your dental consultations.
With state of the art equipment, we ensure your visit to Newby Dental Practice, whether it’s for your check-up, hygiene treatment, or more complex restorative work, will far exceed your expectation. Our surgeries are spacious allowing your dentist ample room to work around you.
We’re even more excited now we have our artwork to show off too. Amazing work from www.cliffmillerphotography.net, it’s really given the dental practice the finishing touch. A beautiful practice in at the heart of Scarborough.

We have a date! From the 16th of November, we will be up and running at Newby Dental Practice as the new dentist in Scarborough.
So whether you see me (Emma), Katie, Helen, Catherine or Phil, as your dentist, your contract and provision of care will be transferred over to our Newby Dental Practice, and will continue as we have done historically. Helen and Mandy, your hygienists, will of course be there too, so if you usually have hygiene visits, these will carry on as they have done.
Our amazing nursing team will also be there, so it will be all of the same friendly professional faces, just in a new location!
Newby Dental Practice is just off Scalby road, in the lovely village of Newby. So it’s only just over a mile from Peasholm. It has easy access, convenient parking and is located on four bus routes too, if required.
We have been busy renovating this beautiful stone-built detached cottage, keeping its original features, whilst installing six state of the art surgeries, all to ensure your dental care is provided in a modern and relaxing environment.
Our new location will provide you with a wide range of treatments and an excellent level of service that you have been accustomed to, all under one roof. In addition it will offer you other benefits including:
Parking within the grounds of the dental practice
Ground floor dental surgeries for ease of access
Fully computerised service
State of the art dental equipment for each customised surgery.
Treatment coordinator lounge to discuss your personalised treatment options
Air conditioning with HEPA filters throughout, for your comfort
“Best practice” decontamination suite, for your safety
Training and conference room to ensure our staff maintain the highest level of knowledge and awareness of up to date techniques.
What do you need to do?
You don’t need to take any action. Your registration with us and your records will be automatically transferred to the new premises. All you need to do is come to our new practice for any appointments after the 16th November.
Your continued dental care is our first priority and we are working to ensure that this is provided with minimum disruption to you. We are doing all that we can to keep your appointments that have already been booked, as they are. If any changes need to be made to your next appointment we will let you know in good time.
If you’re not already registered with us, click here to register your interest, or email Sarah now on email@example.com or call 01723 670 500.

We are looking forward to seeing you very soon. Exciting times ahead!
Surgery 2, what used to be a kitchen in the original cottage, is now a lovely bright and airy surgery. Surgery 2 will mainly be used by Helen Evans and Katie McCarthy, serving our Denplan patients. Helen has worked as a Dentist in Scarborough for sometime now, so we are lucky to have her on board!
Surgery 3 is our custom built Hygiene room. This surgery will be predominantly used by our fabulous hygienists Helen Gill and Amanda Watson. They specifically requested certain types of equipment for this room which we’ve gladly provided for them to be able to offer the very best standard of dental care.
The last update to our sneak peek is surgery 4. Surgery 4 has a few more cabinets to go up however it is coming along nicely. Catherine Hannigan will mainly use this surgery to run our emergency Scarborough dental clinic for those patients that require immediate treatment of dental problems.
It’s been a very challenging week for all this week. There is no one out there not feeling the pressure and worry COVID-19 is causing.
Although our renovation work at Newby Dental Practice has been placed on hold, for the safety of all our workforce, we thought we would just share with you how much we’ve done over the last couple of weeks.
All the internal walls have been removed and cleared, and dug out ready for the new groundwork to go in.
In the far end of the practice, where surgeries 3 and 4 will be, the floor has been re poured and internal walls built.
Once we can get back on site, the remaining internal walls will be up in no time, so we can update you on just how different things will look
It’s all coming together, team spirit at its best. COVID-19 won’t beat us!
